Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Can I use Fungin in cultures with Penicillin / Streptomycin ?
Fungin is compatible with penicillin / streptomycin solutions. Fungin expands the activity spectrum of penicillin / streptomycin against yeasts and most filamentous fungi.
Why use Fungin instead of amphotericin B ?
Fungin is much more convenient in two ways:
- Fungin is fully soluble in water. No need to use toxic deoxycholate as solvant.
- Fungin is more stable than amphotericin. This is especially useful for long term / continuous cell-cultures (such as hybridomas).
Can I use Fungin in cultures already containing selective agents such as G418 or Zeocin ?
Yes, Fungin is compatible with any kind of selective agent (hygromycin B, blasticidin S, puromycin, Zeocin, ...).
