Fungin is an antibiotic used by scientists in bio-research to prevent fungal contamination of animal cell cultures.

Fungin is used as a "routine addition" to cell culture media to prevent yeast and fungal contaminations in small or large scale animal cell cultures. Fungin replaces amphotericin B preparations.

Fungin should not be used as a substitute for good cell culture procedures.
